The research in Dr. Eghbali’s lab is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of heart disease (heart failure, myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury, and cardiac arrest induced by anesthetic overdose), and lung disease (pulmonary hypertension and acute lung injury), and to develop novel therapeutics such as micro-RNAs for heart disease and lung disease. Her lab also studies sex differences in cardiovascular disease in particular the role of estrogen, estrogen receptors and more recently the role of sex chromosomes.
